Data collection

The National Programme for the Collection of Fisheries Data (PNRDA) is the strategic framework through which Italy collects, manages, and analyses biological, technical, environmental, and economic data related to fisheries, aquaculture, and the fish processing industry, in accordance with European legislation.

Main objectives of the PNRDA:

To provide reliable scientific data to support the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy (CFP)

To enable sustainable management of marine resources

To support the assessment of the status of fish stocks

To monitor the socio-economic impact of fishing activities

The programme is managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF) and implemented by a Temporary Consortium of Enterprises (RTI) comprising public and private entities, coordinated by the National Research Council (CNR).

Nisea is responsible for the following modules:

Economic and social data for the fishing fleets to support the evaluation of the socio-economic performance of sector

Economic and social data on the fish processing sector to support the evaluation of the socio-economic performance of that sector
